Ahhhhh Brazil. Love the perspective and the Latino African connection.

Great job Nelson! You captured a well rounded view of the city and it's Afro-Brazilian culture. It is truly one of the most amazing experiences of my life, second only to my safari in Narok, Kenya.

Nelson, Ditto. You truly captured the Afro-Brazilian rhythms and sensuality of the people. Three additional points to add: American Airlines has daily non-stops to Salvador from Miami which makes it a lot easier than having to go to Rio or Sao Paulo first Becoming a haven for Black Americans to retire there English is not widely spoken so it helps to know a few words of Brazilian Portuguese or at least some Spanish As an aside, Salvador along with Sao Paulo is at the forefront of the Afro-Brazilian consciousness movement Axe, Joe Steele

This place looks absolutely amazing. I've add that to my list of places to go.

This place looks like a party town. I could do the beaches except for the speedos.

Thank you for stimulating my vivid memories of that magical place! Salvador da Bahia...it's one of those places that changes you forever once you've visited. You always carry it with you...and long to return! I remember the vibe in Pelhourino, the presence of Spirit in the Candomble houses, the capoeira and drumming in the streets...and the food! The vibration there is unlike that of any other place I've visited. If you haven't been yet...put it at the top of your travel list ;-)

Obrigado (Thanks) Nelson, for giving African American travelers a 'taste' of what awaits them in the culturally rich city of Salvador da Bahia. Without question, Salvador Bahia Brazil should be a prime destination choice for all African American travelers who seek more than the ordinary when they vacation. Nelson, once again you did a terrific job covering one of American Airlines great destinations. Salvador de Bahia is really the best of Brazilian culture. It has the food, music, history and the people. They Bahianos are incredibly friendly and very welcoming. One other thing you need to check out are the many beautiful churches. They are awesome inside.
