Stress Free Travel: Reading on the Run

Dallas - Fort Worth, Texas

HIT THE E-BOOKS

No matter where you're flying to, there's always one thing that remains the same at the airport: waiting. Waiting to check-in; waiting to pass through security; waiting for your flight to arrive; waiting to get on the plane; waiting to take off...you get the picture. Of course, you can occupy yourself with the internet; however, many airports charge for wireless. If you are looking for some free fun, why not put your brain to work and get your reading on? Here are a few gadgets to bundle your books so that your baggage stays light:

Nook Color
Pros: Inexpensive, wi-fi & AT&T 3G, E Ink display (best for your eyes), separate color touchscreen, can play music (including Pandora), can borrow books from public libraries
Cons: No 3G (must have wi-fi access, too), shortest battery life (8 hours), heavier than Kindle

Kindle Fire
Pros: Very inexpensive, wi-fi, access to Amazon book deals, small screen (7 inch--could be a con), touchscreen, color screen, long battery life (up to a month)
Cons: Less storage space, no camera, no GPS, no page numbers, basic web access

iPad
Pros: Multimedia audio-visual platform (books, movie, music, etc.), camera for recording or facetime, touchscreen, wi-fi, (some models) 3G, thin, largest access to most online bookstores
Cons: Very expensive, low battery life (10 hours), heavy to hold after time
